7/24 - “The only people more bizarre than actors are acting teachers”
By The Stabbing Pen | July 25, 2008
I took a few acting classes back in college, and while I did enjoy these classes, admittedly I’m a terrible actor. I’m pretty awful at memorizing lines, and just become to self-conscious/self-aware of what I’m saying and doing.
It’s commonplace for acting teachers to have their class do all sorts of odd exercises to help warm them up, and to later help them get into a certain character they are to portray.
By far, the most outrageous exercise was when I heard about this girl who was told to pretend to be the animal of her choice for an entire week until the next class. To me, this is moronic. Unless she is going to do a voice-over for an animation, what is the point of pretending to be an animal?
I REALLY HOPE I NAIL THAT AUDITION AND LAND THE ROLE OF ZEBRA.
