7/26 - “Plastic bag ban – horrible idea”
By The Stabbing Pen | July 26, 2008
Not that I don’t love the earth etc etc, but seemingly me and Steve are the only people I know that seem at all skeptical of recycling in general. I think it’s a bit naïve to think that recycling companies aren’t all about profit too, and that politicians aren’t just pushing certain agendas to appeal to the lowest common denominator (people who hear the word “recycle” and become sexually aroused).
Anyway, it appears in a couple of years that plastic bags will be banned in LA. However, Los Angelenos will continue destroy the air with our 12 million vehicles on the road each day. WHAT SENSE WE HAVE.
Even worse, I already have to tippy-toe around dog shit on the sidewalk near my house. I’m sure banning plastic bags will motivate people all that much more to pick up after Spot.

I agree that there are recycling companies that want to make money like everyone else, and politicians want to get elected. But those aren’t bad things if they help facilitate change. Therein lies the problem with the notion that anything can actually change for the good. Your point of view comes from a jaded slant, and sadly, rightfully so.
