7/31 - “D-Wade’s mom: horrible speller”
By The Stabbing Pen | July 31, 2008
Listen, I have absolutely no problem with black people giving their children unique names. I have no problem with using alternative spellings for “normal” names. Darrell, Daryl, Darryl, and so on for example. This really doesn’t even have anything to do with race.
But there’s just no possible way I can accept that D-w-y-a-n-e is pronounced like D-w-a-y-n-e, or D-u-a-n-e. I’m not going to sit back and let this woman get away with the “It’s a black thing,” or the ”I was being unique” defenses. To me it’s just obvious that this woman can’t spell.
Of course, there are many other names, or just simply words in our language that are pronounced completely different than how they are spelled…and the assholes who came up with those couldn’t spell for shit either.

Posted by: fman on August 5th, 2008 at 12:41 pmSome friends of mine gave their child a ridiculous name they they thought sounded Irish, It actually sounds like an ailment of the nose.
I told them it was Latin for “my parents are jerks”.
They didn’t think it was funny.
