10/19 - “I guess I’m on the SNL sucks bandwagon”
By The Stabbing Pen | October 19, 2008
“I used to watch that show, but now it sucks.” This is what pretty much everyone I talk to about Saturday Night Live says. Part of me has believed that that’s just the hip and trendy thing to say. Not that I’ve watched the show very much in recent years, but with some early baseball games to play Sunday mornings, I’ve caught some of this season’s shows.
Honestly, 85% of what I’ve seen has been plain awful. It was intriguing to see Sarah Palin on the show over the weekend, but her sketches (along with pretty much everything else on the show) just weren’t funny. The stuff with Alec Baldwin was retarded, and obviously everyone involved was just reading their lines. There was no chemistry between anyone on camera, and they weren’t even making eye contact with one another (AT ALL). Maybe it’s me, but I don’t recall cue cards being relied on as much as they are now as compared with past SNL seasons.
In another skit, which sort of epitomizes the mediocrity of the show, a group of were friends eating at a restaurant. Josh Brolin’s character announces to his friends as they’re awaiting for the arrival of his girlfriend that once she arrives, he plans to propose to her. One of the other women at the table gets ridiculously excited over this announcement and says how hard it is for her to keep a secret.
A perfectly viable premise with promise was poorly executed and overdone by this cunt actress. She was running around like a crazy person during the sketch, and at one point had lobsters biting her for no apparent reason. FUCKING RETARDED.
