Other than scratching the carpet (and the couches) in front of a door when she’s locked out of a room, the cat is ok. I mean, she bites and scratches, but is a wild animal at heart. Plus, as her owner, I can tell when she’s in that mood and I just leave her alone. I’m just glad she pisses and poops in the box, and only vomits about 2x or 3x yearly.
She’s also fat, and living in a fairly small apartment isn’t going to provide her with much exercise. Half the time though, she doesn’t even want food, and is just meowing to see if she can “get me to feed her.” There’s all these complex mental games going on.
If she’s meowing for food, but already ate 10x that day, I’ll usually say something like, “Fuck off. What do you want?” I mean, even if her food dish is currently empty, she’s likely already eaten a bunch, and will not starve if I don’t feed her ASAP.
Occasionally though she’ll be meowing, and I’ll notice the water dish is empty. This I do feel bad about. Your pets water dish/bowl/supply should ALWAYS be full. Not that food isn’t crucial too, but all living things have a right to water, and denying them access to it is just cruel. In other words, if you don’t fill your pets water dish up as soon as you see it’s empty, you are a terrible pet-owner and a terrible person.

07|Apr|2009 2Agreed. And if the water bowl isn’t full … at least leave the toilet seat up.
Just kidding. That’s mean.

08|Apr|2009 3Damn, cats are sooo high maintenance, aren’t they? My cat plays the same games. She goes running and meowing (while looking back at me to make sure I’m following her), takes me to her food bowl and says: “My bowl is only half-full, you twit; you expect me to tolerate this!” So, of course, I fill it to the rim.

08|Apr|2009 5[...] They say that our animals can think and act independently, apart from mere instinct. If only they could actually speak. But for sure, they’re conniving enough to play mind games, as The Stabbing Pen hilariously posted today. [...]
