Even though his head and body are now probably located in different zip codes, Ted Williams was once not only a spectacular baseball player, but also a financially savvy human.
According to a buddy of mine, the long-time Boston Red Sox legend used to try to pay for stuff using personal checks as much as possible.
His [...]

It was only inevitable that I would give my two cents on the whole Tiger Woods situation.  I sort of don’t give a shit all that much, but came across a headline on ESPN.com the other day that pissed me off.  Here’s what it read:
“Amid shocking scandal, Tiger Woods named athlete of the [...]

It’s not uncommon for those in show business to change their names to something shorter, more memorable, and possibly less “Jewy.”  Mr. Aykroyd, not a Jew as far as I know, probably has the most challenging 7 letter name to spell.  I mean, now that I’m writing this post and focusing on [...]

I have no idea who I had this conversation with (maybe George?), but I believe one of us referenced the Jerry Seinfeld bit about nudity.  He mentioned how it’s so “final,” and we can no longer make our little adjustments that make us humans feel like we’re “getting it together.”
Seinfeld said that he’d like to [...]

Comedian/Actor Charlie Murphy was pretty much an unknown until his hilarious appearances on Chappelle’s Show.  Before then, he was mostly known as Eddie Murphy’s brother — if even that.   Although no big star, Charlie is a successful guy.  He even tours all over the place doing stand-up.
That brings me to my next thought.   My friend [...]

I’m hoping the world never gets to the point when nuclear weapons are prominently deployed.
In the modern age, especially with computers, we live in a world that keeps pretty detailed records.  I’ve had this conversation in various forms, but it is my belief that ancient events thought of as supernatural never happened (the way “believers” [...]

8/31 - “Um, Mike Tyson still sucks”

Is it me, or has Mike Tyson’s image gone under a complete makeover within the past few years?   I suppose it’s apples and oranges comparing Michael Vick to Mike Tyson, but I find it kinda fucked up that people were outraged about Vick’s behavior, yet seem to disreguard the fact that MIKE TYSON IS A [...]

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery.  Well you know what, I don’t know who “they” are, and am going to have to disagree with them.  When quotes like this are thrown around, they can applied to cases of satire/parody as well.   People who say things like ” imitation is the highest form [...]

7/23 - “Walter Cronkite Memorial Chicken Dinner”

Thanks to co-worker Lisa Sutton, I’ve been possibly inspired to start a new tradition along the lines of what she does.  She’s a self-proclaimed stalker of minor celebrities, and coincidentally on the day Michael Jackson died, Lisa used our office fund to purchase coffee.
It was dubbed  “The Michael Jackson Memorial Coffee.”
Looking back, I clearly missed [...]

I must say, I’m pretty much Michael Jackson’d out at this point, and the main reason I haven’t blogged about his death, is because I’ve spent enough time both conversing about it in person, and on Facebook.  I loved his music, and felt really sad for the man because of a lot of the unfortunate [...]
